Yeah, I got a bunch of moss for my back yard that gets very little sun, but moss doesn’t have a good vascular system so if you forget to water it it’s all over (and there’s no way I’ll always remember to water). On the bright side, it is very enriching for soil if you break it up!
That’s strange. I didn’t know moss could die. I got some on my balcony, and it manages to survive well enough. And no, I didn’t put it there. I guess some soil fell down from a balcony above mine, and then the moss just appeared after a few years or so. Someone turned a piece upside-down and it’s still green. Very dark green now, though. I wonder if it’s ever going to run out of nourishment?
Sometimes I wonder if I should just pour out a lot of soil on my balcony and let the moss spread all over. But I suppose that it wouldn’t be very sanitary, as it might invite a lot of bugs that should stay in the forest. But it would be kind of cool to have a mossy floor right outside. Or perhaps just eccentric.
It was the Irish Moss kind and not the small kind that just grows randomly around. It has a bit more foliage to support, so requires large amounts of water. Mosses don’t really have roots, so they need to be kept wet.

It still had damp soil, so it wasn’t completely dry… I guess it just wasn’t enough, though! Oh well… I’ll try again!
